The Gamo® Hornet Maxxim™ Air Rifle uses Gamo's IGT (Inert Gas Technology) gas piston to launch pellets with a pneumatic cylinder instead of a spring powerplant. Gas piston pellet guns are smooth cocking, function in cold weather, and provide more consistent velocities with less vibration than metal spring powered guns. The 2-stage CAT trigger (Custom Action Trigger) allows you to independently adjust for overall travel and weight to obtain a crisp, lightweight trigger pull to your liking. The 3-9x40mm airgun scope provides versatility for shooting small or large targets, up close or far away. The scope mounts to a RRR (Recoil Reducing Rail) specifically designed for high-powered air rifles to reduce recoil stress on the scope. The rail is constructed with 2 pieces of aluminum separated by dual polymer struts that absorb shockwaves, maintaining precise zero and prolonging the life of the scope. Gamo's Whisper Maxxim noise reduction system consists of a rifled steel barrel with an integrated sound moderator located inside the muzzle that effectively suppresses sound and reduces noise expansion. The system is extremely efficient and lightweight. The SWA™ (Shock Wave Absorber) recoil pad provides shooting comfort and helps reduce overall shock to the gun and sight. The Gamo Hornet Maxxim is a serious air rifle for hunting small game, pest control, and recreational shooting. The .22 caliber model shoots a PBA pellet at 975 fps.
